Digital night vision is hitting the market. These devices are built around sensitive CCD-cameras and use additional infrared illumination under very dark conditions. Their advantage is a very clear image in TV-quality and they are also affordable.

The "Nitemax" shown above is such a digital night vision unit. It also features a video-output for recording observations. Of course I had to test it and here you can see some night vision bat videos.
